Are you ready for an adventure, but feel nervous to travel solo? It can feel intimidating to organise an entire solo trip, particularly an adventure trip, alone. Which is why I've created this list of the 10 best solo tours for women – to help you ease your way into solo travel while finding like-minded women to travel with. It's a great way to experience travelling solo, but to instantly meet other travellers and take the pressure off. It can sometimes feel like you need to do everything in your first solo trip, or that you need have a handle on everything. But the truth is, solo travel is a learning process and even after 10 years of solo travel to 50+ countries, I'm still learning something new on every solo trip.

If the thought of planning an entire solo trip from scratch is just too overwhelming, or time consuming and you simply want to go on an adventure, you should consider a solo tour for women. These are a great way to experience travelling alone but you don't have to worry about a thing. Join Solo Adventure Gals – A Solo Female Travel Community

Have you ever not gone on a dream trip because you were scared to travel solo? Have you ever been stuck without a travel buddy or found trips never make it out of the group chat?

I hear you, and that’s why I’ve launched SOLO ADVENTURE GALS - a community for solo female travellers with a taste for adventure! If you’ve always wanted to travel the world, but have no-one to go with, this community of adventurous women will be your new adventure travel besties! Solo Adventure Gals is here to give you the tools and the confidence to try solo travel.

This has been 10 years in the making, but last year when I lost one of my best travel friends, Dylan, I realised that I wanted to help other travellers to find friendships just like the one we were lucky enough to have. So, this is in memory of Dylan, because travelling solo doesn’t have to mean being alone.

The tours I have chosen below are mixed-gender tours as I have always had an amazing experience on these during my travels. However, if you prefer women-only tours, I recommend joining Solo Adventure Gals where I will soon be hosting group trips and solo tours for women, we'll also be launching the Solo Gals Book Club to give you even more opportunities to connect both online and IRL. >> Click here to join

The Best Travel Insurance for Solo Female Travellers

Before you travel, make sure you get travel insurance! I never travel without it and over the years I've had bags go missing, flight delays and illness to contend with. Things can go wrong and while you never want that to happen, having travel insurance is kind of like a safety net. It's invaluable for solo female travellers as it just means you have someone in your corner to help if things go wrong. Read my in-depth guide on travel insurance, but check out my go-to travel insurer below:

I thrive on adventure, but when it comes to my well-being, I don't compromise. SafetyWing's Nomad Insurance Essential provides coverage in 175+ countries, and you have complete control over when your policy starts and stops at any time. They've recently expanded coverage to include adventure sports and electronics theft too. Think of it as your safety net, if something goes wrong its great to have back-up in case you get sick, injured or your kit gets damaged. I know how frustrating travel can be sometimes, so it's good to know that when things go wrong I've got a good insurance policy in my corner.

They also cover:

  • Meals & accommodations if you have a travel delay over 12 hours
  • Emergency dental care up to $1000
  • Medical care including prescriptions, emergency care and hospital stays
  • Coverage for lost checked luggage
  • Flights home if something bad happens
  • Continued coverage for visits back home
  • Coverage for motor accidents
  • Coverage for injuries from leisure sports & activities

If you need coverage for a longer period, you might consider looking at their Complete plan - includes all Essential features, plus comprehensive health coverage with routine healthcare, mental health support, and maternity, most countries in the world, including in your home country.
