I'm always on the lookout for unique dining experiences, so I'm excited to share with you the best sushi restaurant in London. What's the twist you ask? Well this beautiful restaurant in Islington is home to a brand new dining concept. It creatively combines Middle Eastern flavours with fresh Japanese ingredients to create a unique fusion unlike anything I've ever tried before. It doesn't make sense and it doesn't sound like it should work – but I can assure you, it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten.

Jiji Restaurant, Islington, London. The Best sushi restaurant in London

From the second you walk in the door at Jiji Restaurant, you step into a stunning space where the attention to detail is second to none. A warm welcome awaits you from the friendly, attentive staff. They are quick to recommend their favourite dishes and knowledgeable about the menu and drink pairings. The manager was keen to chat and even invited us to try a new sake he was trialling in the restaurant. It was a lovely way to end the meal.

Finding great dining experiences in London

As someone who doesn't live in London, but loves to make the most of the amazing dining experiences available when I visit the city, it can often be overwhelming to choose where to eat. This time, we booked via Opentable which was a great way to compare across a variety of cuisines and locations to find the perfect restaurant. There were so many amazing sushi restaurants in London, but we had never heard of Jiji before. It was only through Opentable that we managed to find this unique combination of Middle Eastern and Japanese fusion. We were so glad that we booked this amazing spot. Dining At The Best Sushi Restaurant In London

As Jiji say on their website, "Life is too short to eat bad sushi… or any bad food for that matter". Jiji is so much more than just sushi and the second we saw the menu, we were instantly intrigued. We ordered a range of sushi including Tuna and Avocado Tartare with a Creamy Truffle Sauce, JIJI Salmon & Tuna Tartare with Truffle and Ponzu, the Seared Scallop with Unagi Sauce, Jalepeno Sea Bass and Classic Spicy Tuna Rolls. The sushi blew us away! I'm a sucker for truffle, but it was such a unique combination of flavours mixed with the freshness of the seafood.

Alongside our sushi, we also loved the Vegetable Gyozas, Salmon Carpaccio, Mini Salmon Tacos and Flat Bread JIJI Style baked on the Robata Grill with Labneh and Tahini. What a fusion of flavours! The flat bread was by far one of the best I've ever tasted and the salmon carpaccio melted in your mouth.

Honey Soy Marinated Hanger Steak with smoked aubergine cream, lovage pesto, Jerusalem artichoke crisps, and Miso Marinated Black Cod with steamed rice. Jiji Restaurant London

For the main course, we dined on Honey Soy Marinated Hanger Steak with smoked aubergine cream, lovage pesto, Jerusalem artichoke crisps, and Miso Marinated Black Cod with steamed rice. Both of these dishes left us speechless. The meat was so tender and the cod simply dissolved on your tastebuds. A truly spectacular main event.

Can we just take a second to talk about the amazing cocktails? Jiji had such a wonderful drinks menu and we loved tasting the different drinks including my favourite, the Lychee & Blossom Martini. We also loved the Ukiyo Yuzu and the super spicy The Picanteria. Every single thing we ate and drank at Jiji felt so unique to the restaurant. It was unlike anywhere we had ever dined before. Finally, we finished with dessert – Malabi and Mochi Ice Cream for a fresh and fruity finish to this incredible meal. Trust me, if you're looking for the best and most unique sushi restaurant in London, this is the one to try!
