Indonesia is a country that I can’t wait to explore more of in the future. I’ve been lucky to spend over a month travelling Bali, and time on Gili T, but there is so much more I want to see. I’m excited to visit Komodo National Park in the years to come. And to see places like Gili Air, Lombok, Yogyakarta, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida.
But what I have loved is getting the opportunity to explore Bali and to travel around to places like Ubud, Jimbaran, Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu among many others. Bali was a place of sunsets on the beach, swimming with sea turtles. Chasing waterfalls and exploring on scooters. Check out my bumper guide to Bali for everything you need to know on what to do and where to stay..
Travelling Bali, Indonesia
I travelled with one of my best travelling friends, with a crew of friends I picked up along the way and also partly solo. Bali is a great island to do all three types of travel. If you go solo it’s also a great place to meet people. I think my favourite part of my time there was staying in Ubud surrounded by leafy green jungle.
I was with a group of friends but also loved spending time alone. Going to yoga classes, finding great vegan cafes and exploring the markets. I even went to a jazz and salsa bar one night and made a bunch of new friends.
More from the rice paddies of Indonesia
We also loved getting out on the scooters and exploring rice fields, waterfalls and temples together, it was spectacular despite being rainy season. We witnessed some epic storms but also had time to explore and enjoy good weather each day. Read my Indonesia blogs for guides on where to stay, what to do and how long to visit for.
I also really recommend Gili T – not only did I get to swim with countless sea turtles there, but there were some of the most beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunsets and bikes to explore on! It was also fantastic party vibes every night.
