One of the best countries to ever had a layover – Malaysia was the perfect 8 hour escape between flights! We flew into Kuala Lumpur and left our bags at the airport so we could go and explore the city. It was fantastic – a great way to make use of the time. With a chauffeur for the journey, we drove into the city and fuelled up on food.
Exploring Kuala Lumpur
Jumping on a train, we headed to Batu Caves and climbed the famous colourful steps before exploring the caves. We also did the Dark Cave tour which cost barely anything but was fascinating – such a cool place to visit. It’s super easy to reach here from the airport and to have plenty of time if you take the train and it barely costs anything. Plus there’s an amazing vegetarian Indian restaurant at the bottom – delicious!
We also managed to squeeze in a visit to the Petronas Towers and to walk around the city. It was amazing to see the building in real life and worth a visit, but it does get super busy there for pics. If you love to shop, you’ll love the malls that are nearby, they have everything you could ever need or want from clothes to jewellery to technology and more.
More of Malaysia
Malaysia is such an interesting country and one I would love to spend more time in. I would love to go island hopping there and explore more of the countryside now that I have seen the city.
Kuala Lumpur is a fantastic city but it gives such a small view into such a vibrant culture. I know I have much more to see, but I can’t wait to explore more in the future. Read this section for my posts on how to spend your layover in the city.
