I get it, there comes a time in our lives when we don’t feel at out best. We can really start to be critical in how we look, how we act, and even how we think, and it can consume us like nothing else. The truth is, this sort of negativity for yourself is only going to hinder your possibilities in life, and stop you from moving forward. So how do you break the habit? How do you stop thinking that way? The only person who can do that is yourself. After all, what you see in the mirror is not what someone else will see. I thought I would share with you some of the things you can do to help you change how you feel about yourself. I hope it helps you in your time of need.

Make physical changes

Too often it can be reasons of a physical nature that can start you on this path of self destruction and criticism. Perhaps feeling like you don’t look your best, maybe taking note of some of the issues you may struggle with like your teeth and smiling or your sight. But, what we can often forget is that there are things you can do to improve the situation of some of the physical ailments you may be struggling with. Sght can be corrected through wearing glasses, lenses or even considering things like laser eye treatment. Things like LASIK is safe and something that could be a real possibility for you. Teeth can be corrected by visiting your dentist regularly, having braces fitted to help straighten or even having whitening treatments to make them brighter. The point I am trying to make is that you need to make the physical changes and take action, and not just accept.

Work on your mindset

Your mindset can play a huge part in how you feel because this is where those critical thoughts are stemming from. A negative mindset can often come from a place of other issues perhaps going on in your life. Maybe you don’t feel fulfilled at work, your relationship is struggling or you are having more pressing issues like financial strain. Your mindset is something that needs to develop new habits of positive thinking, and it can be easily sorted out by breaking the habits of negativity. Meditation, especially guided meditations, can help you work through your thoughts. Also starting to feel grateful and showing gratitude for the other things in your life can help you to see a little clearer and look for the good, especially when you feel at your worst.

Sometimes it is your lifestyle that needs the attention

Finally, maybe it is your lifestyle that is causing you to feel so bad. It could be the food you are eating, or the lack of exercise you are taking. But it is a proven fact that a balanced diet combined with exercise can help you to feel good and have a positive change in your physical appearance. Sometimes you have just got to take the steps to feeling better. It could start with a walk, reducing your portion size, or trying to eat more fruit and vegetables in a day. The small changes will start to add up.
